I installed a USB port on the wall of the shelf that's on the left side of the steering wheel. What I did is use a dremel tool. The kit has many attachments, I started used a grinder about a 1/4" diameter to make the initial hole and then I slowly enlarge the hole. I did a little grinding and then checked the for a fit. When I was done, the hole was just the right diameter and the USB port fit very tight prior to me tightening it from behind the panel.
