That depends if you buy a set that inserts and charges by usb or buy the AA sized ones with a separate charger like these EBL 8pack.

They handle well for me and the battery indicators seems to be about 20% higher than actually in the batteries. so when I reach 20% the controller might die get about 8-10 hours of battery life.

You don't need to use single use batteries. There's plenty good rechargeable battery chemistries that work fine. Lithium ion run at 1.5V and are even superior to alkaline batteries so they would work better than the 1.2V high capacity NiMH you're probably referring to. They also cost about the same as the high capacity Eneloop Pros most recommend. The drawback is you need a smart charger that can handle lithium ion.

Here's an example of very affordable Li: https://www.amazon.com/EBL-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery-Batteries/dp/B088ZN6XSJ/

Naw, if you want the longest performance out of rechargeables switch to lithium ion or high quality Japanese high capacity NiMH like the Eneloop Pros, Ikea Ladda (non-brown label) or Fujitsu). Studies have shown LiPo is inferior in almost every way to Lithium Ion.

Try something like these: https://www.amazon.com/EBL-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery-Batteries/dp/B088ZN6XSJ/
