I got this GE Antenna and this Preamp in my attic and that setup is working great. I also get the high VHF stations which I had trouble getting initially.
The preamp is mounted directly below the antenna and is powered via a power supply in the basement where the coax terminates.
I've had this one mounted in my enclosed attic, connected to a tablo quad for nearly 2 years. I added a Winegard LNA-200 pre-amplifier. Took a bit of aim tuning to get it right, but it now finds 100 channels, only 6 of which are less than 5-bars signal strength. I get 2 versions of most local channels from different areas.
Granted you seem to be in a much worse area. My rabbitears listing shows 19 channels as "good", yet I pickup 100 (94 to be fair) with usable strength.

Here is the one from Amazon I have used and recommend.
If you need to strengthen the signal from your antenna get a preamp like this one from Amazon. You mount the premap in the attic next to your antenna and the power supply at the end of that antenna feed run just before the 3 way splitter.
..and this is the antenna I have along with the above 2 items.
ABC in DC is channel 7. At 25 miles from the station in Prince William County I get 84 field strength signal with a clear line of sight to the antenna. i.e. no hills in the way.
I use an in attic antenna with preamp to get all of the base channels.
Both ABC and CBS are VHF with CBS on channel 9.
Get a rabbit ear report to see what you might have in the way of interference.
Here is what I use, not expensive and can go inside your house just not pretty to look at. I used it inside until I put it in my attic.

I bought this and have very positive impact
GE Pro Outdoor TV Antenna, Long Range Antenna, 4K 1080P VHF UHF Digital HDTV Antenna, J Mount Included, Weather Resistant, Indoor Attic Mountable, 29884 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYMVPVX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JMK8XJ591K0DMS0PED4Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Edit I mounted it indoor on a microphone stand
I use one like this, but I live ~30 miles with some hills from the city, so I had issues getting a few channels in the VHF range (namely, CBS). With this thing in my attic, I get everything.
If you're in-city (I assume you are), one of the suggested flat dealies will likely work fine, but buying bigger right away and getting all the channels you want is probably better than finding out a smaller antenna won't cut it and having to upgrade later.
Yikes... that really sucks ... this makes for a good argument for dealing with local stores only for easy no bs returns... or at least dealing with Amazon, etc directly and always avoiding any third-party sellers ...but I know that's not always possible ...and hindsight is 20/20...
But anyway, here's a few antennas for you to consider from various sources, some of which are hopefully local for you, like Walmart... and if not, other local stores like Lowe's or Home Depot, etc probably hopefully have similar antennas at similar prices...
these antennas are all $41 or less and some even come with coax, a mast and mounting hardware... and most or all of them should fit fairly easily in most ATTIC spaces... an attic is a GREAT place for an antenna for MANY reasons:
...........
a $30 STELLAR LABS VHF/UHF complete outdoor or attic tv antenna Kit, model 30-2485
but maybe substitute the supplied 50 feet of RG59 with RG6 coax IF you have any really WEAK UHF signals, otherwise the RG59 is probably ok... it's certainly more than enough to get you started... you can change it to RG6 later if you need to:

VHF/UHF antenna covers hi band VHF 174 to 230 Mhz & UHF 470 to 862 Mhz
Mast/pole with wall bracket and wall anchors
