Sorry you're having problems with it. I just wanted to let you know it's possible. I've been connecting my V30 to my TV for a couple of months without issue. I've been using a cable like this.
FWIW, I used a minidisplayport-to-HDMI cable to connect my beloved 2009 Macbook to my TV. I use this USB-C-to-HDMI cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LYS3Q5A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to connect my 2018 Macbook Pro to that same TV.
You're apparently attaching a minidisplayport-to-HDMI cable to a minidisplayport(ish)-to-USB-C adapter, and connecting laptop to TV with the combination. That's outside my experience.
Can you get choetech products where you are? I use their USB-C to hdmi adapter and it works perfectly. The only advantage of the apple would be charging but if that doesn't work then save the money!
Edit: assuming you're across the pond: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYS3Q5A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_6WF2ybER68FMC Don't buy the other cheaper adapter as that doesn't work.
