My favorite use for 3d printers is just for things like there, where can create custom adapters, brackets, hangers, etc that are exactly what I need. It is especially valuable when there is a source of cheap source materials, where designing a custom bracket or whatever allows you to create custom price-efficient designs. There are tons of free models ready to use associated with hydroponics that you can see here, and Hoocho often releases 3d printable models that support some of the systems he covers in youtube videos.
I found that the specific pods that came with the growled grow light thing were pricey from amazon, compared to the aerogarden pods. The net cups that are included would also make it difficult to transplant the seedlings into another environment, without taking the cup with it. I just got these started, so no seedlings yet, but this is what it looks like.
I just bought these last week:
AeroGarden Grow Anything Seed Pod Kit, 9 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01614SQR2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YP2JZW4QB1NSVD85SP16
They have these generic version that I was curious about but have not yet tried :
100 Pack Grow Sponges, Seed Pods Replacement Root Growth Sponges Compatible with AeroGarden, Moldy-Free, Sponges Kit for Hydroponic Indoor Garden System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0934WDHQN/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_VVMZ9GER3Z8EK92NTXFW
Good luck! 🙂
