So if something is listed as $78.99 in Canada, it's American price is $59.41. Amazon is usually willing to give free international shipping on items if a certain criteria is met.

American Amazon $999.00 USD or $1328.88 CAD

Same product, just using the exchange rate for a better price. Even if shipping was $50, it would still be a better deal for the laptop.
