I have multiple sets, ranging from the full on set to the mini. I've also made my own from soda cans that have their own strengths and weaknesses. I've always appreciate the durability and simplicity. I haven't actually used any other stoves/fuels in about 15 years, so other technology my provide similar benefits.
Haven't used them on a bike tour (still a touring virgin), but I've used it heaps for backpacking (including 25 straight days on the Colorado Trail). I don't always use the standard kit, I often use a titanium pot with handles, and home made windscreen. It's nice to be able to mix and match pieces for the situation.
As you note, I've always found finding fuel easy (although I'm in NZ now and not as easy here). By myself, cooking one meal per day of something with relatively short boil time (5-6 minutes boiling) I can usually just get by on 1 oz, but usually take a bit more per day.
Edit: looked at the link you gave - definitely get a sturdier pot gripper, lots of options but something like http://www.amazon.com/MSR-Pan-Handler-Lifter-Cozy/dp/B000EUMKFY/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1393139426&sr=1-1&keywords=pot+gripper. Also a foil windscreen weighs almost nothing but saves heaps of fuel. Good luck!
