I use the 0.5 mm comb on the armpits and groin area. No irritation and a very close trim.
For this purpose I (and my wife) use a Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 1100, Showerproof Body Hair Trimmer and Groomer. 20$, single battery, cuts short, but not too short. Amazon Smile link. Maybe not r/BuyItForLife material, cost worked for me, 2 years intermittent use, no issues.

Ive been using this one for a few months now. two different blade guard sizes and showerproof, hasnt cut me yet. hope this helps!
Use it with the 0.5 mm comb on the armpits and groin area. It looks almost like it was shaved, that's how close it trims.
