You can tell I'm not good with this kind of thing. :p

Anyway, here's a TL;DW if you can't/don't want to watch the video:

I bought the $50 Amazon Kindle Fire recently as a cheap but good quality tablet I could play SW on. SW isn't on the Amazon Appstore, but there's actually a way to get the Google Play Store onto this device:

SW runs quite well on this device. The graphical quality is good, and it runs pretty smoothly. Really the only time it has some trouble is during raids, which from my experience, are usually kinda choppy.

no local storage capacity

What the heck are you talking about? It has a microSD slot.

Currently available specs rather than wild speculation:

For any college students out there with textbook buying season just around the corner, prime day is an excellent reason to take advantage of Amazon's free 6 Months of prime for students with the Prime benefits stretching to spring semester's book buying also. Combining Prime Day, Amazon Student, and Prime Now you can get ridiculous deals such as a $3.33 tablet with no other cost to you. Remember to change your settings so you don't forget and wind up accidentally paying for Prime after the 6-month trial is over, and use promocode GETITNOW for 20$ off your first Prime Now order.

The above signup link is a referral link and will credit $10 to both your account and my account when you use it. If you would like to avoid this Here is a non-referral link.

I don't know where you'll find "free" tablets..... if you catch a business during a refresh cycle you might be able to get computers though... esp if you're a legit non-profit, because then they could use it as a write-off.

"relatively inexpensive"... amazon just released tablets where you can buy six for the price of five...

Another angle might be looking a Raspberry Pis... they are decent little computers, you could have a fully functional PC (assuming you plugged it into a TV) running linux for probably $40...

Combining Prime Day, Amazon Student, and Prime Now I got it down to $3.33 without even paying for prime.

Prime - Free for 6 months for college students. Also happens to stretch perfectly to spring semester's textbook buying season.

Base price - $33.33

  • -$20 with Prime Now promo GETITNOW

  • -$10 from Amazon Student signup credit when using a referral

Final product price - $3.33

Make sure you disable re-subscription if you don't want to pay for prime. The above link is a referral and will add $10 to your account, and mine when you sign up for Amazon Student with it. If you want to avoid this Here is a non-referral link.
