Hey! I would double check to make sure the sticks are not treated with anything that could be harmful to your hammie other than that it should be okay I use popsicle sticks from Amazon I’ll link them below. Large count bag for not to bad of a price and I’ve used these to make multiple items for both my WW dwarf and my long haired Syrian and with both I haven’t had issues with munching on them a little.
What did you use to put them together is another question I have. Elmers glue perfectly safe as well as certain hot glue brands which I have used to make little platforms and stands.
If you notice any large pieces that are around the cage make sure you just kinda pull those out and throw them away so you hammie does not hurt themselves on it.
Maybe get him a few small wood chews or whimzees to see if he will chew on those. You can purchase whimzees at most pet stores (even when they are unfortunately not the best aka Petsmart/petco but you have no other choice) they will occasionally have little bins where you can select the ones you want ranging from 49 cents to $1.12 (that’s at least what I can get them for in Wisconsin). There’s some other nice options on Amazon that aren’t horrible expensive wood chew wise Just be careful and read what they are made of. I will also link two down below that both my boys LOVE and they are not big fans of wood chews
If you don’t want him to chew on certain spots such as supports for a small hide or platform you can take a q-tip and put a little bit of apple cider vinegar on it and then rub it onto that specific spot although you will have to let it sit for a day or so outside of the cage. May not be the best way but it is what worked to get Eddy (my fluffy boy) to stop chewing on his supports and move to his wood chews.
Otherwise things like toilet paper tubes, unscented/non lotion tissue works well to give them to shred and fool around with.
Other than that I would say you’re perfectly okay. It’s a normal hammie response to chew just keep an eye to and make sure he isn’t ingesting those chunks to be safe it’s rare they will do that but also good to watch 🙃☺️
Hope I was able to help

NOTE: get extra small as they are safer for the hammer and they can also be cut into smaller strips. 6 of the x small cut into strips lasts me MONTHS and my boys love them.
(Yes it’s Petsmart for the second whimzee treats. but by me Amazon won’t deliver certain items and Petsmart is my only other option for certain supplies as I live in the middle of practically no where 🥲)
