I replaced the rear hang tabs with these:

Simply remove the old tabs and replace with those D rings. Afterwards you can hang something like this from the rings:

Just snug the straps tight and it can support a good amount of weight. I hang 4-5 surf rods with 4K-8K reels on it and it does just fine.
