are you asking for a recommendation on a converter box?? Or are you asking whether to use composite of S-Video??

A1: 2 Port AV to HDMI Converter 16:9/4:3 support.

A2: Composite

This is a great topic. I bought this for $25 and it has a 4:3 switch that correctly adds black bars to the left/right to properly output the A/V signal.

This is such a huge upgrade from stretched widescreen that I've been having fun just playing games again for the past few days. But, I do know that it's 480i and doesn't look great enlarged, but it does look pretty good depending on the game. I've tried this with N64, SNES, SG, SD. I'm satisfied, but may opt for better. This is a process for me.

So just throwing this out there for anyone who wants a low-price option. when I was looking, I couldn't find any 4:3 converters, had to dig to find this one. 4:3 might be good enough. I'm having a blast playing on a Samsung Q80T 55" 144Hz. I've set it up for Xbox One X with image enhancements OFF, so no smoothing. Probably if I start turning on those features, I won't need an expensive adapter which does the same thing.
