I don't have these problems, been using 1.2v rechargeables across 4 different WMR HMD's, couldn't tell a difference from the times when I have used 1.5v single use. I'm no electrician/smart person but If I recall during the course of my own research when trying to determine how to best face the battery predicament when I was yet a VR virgin, the 1.5v is the rating of a brand new fully charged AA, and as the battery discharges it's overall voltage does as well. In other words they are only 1.5v to start but may be somewhere around 1.1v with 10% charge remaining.

Finally, if you are going to go the disposable route (which I advise against) don't spend money on the Amazon basics, get some decent name brands at about the same price. I grabbed a lot of 70ish from woot for ~$20

You should buy: https://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-High-Capacity-Rechargeable-Pre-Charged-Batteries/dp/B06Y1L9GXK/ref=pd_bap_m_rp_3/143-8913018-0483255?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06Y1L9GXK&pd_rd_r=34a7c803-e0c1-4d2e-bcce-50982359596f&pd_rd_w=w5w6U&pd_rd_wg=h3vJv&pf_rd_p=d1d994ea-d2b3-4ad6-ab63-c9d14c7e3088&pf_rd_r=60FA73HJ4GDFMESGJ61J&psc=1&refRID=60FA73HJ4GDFMESGJ61J

These are 2400mAh, make sure to check the capacity if you pick different ones. Most you find on Amazon are 800-1350mAh, aim for the 2000+ ones instead.

Sticking with Disposables? Buy these then: https://electronics.woot.com/offers/sony-alkaline-stamina-plus-aa
