As for the wire cutter, I got this one delivered yesterday (after my cheapo one broke).

This one cuts the stem easily without much force needed. I then use a metal file to smooth it out.

As for the crystal press, many people recommend one that screws down, rather than just presses down. Something like this , but I have no experience with those. I use a cheap press myself.

I got this one and I’ve been pleased. I had a hinge type one prior and this is way better.
