Uhm, IDK about you guys, for all those saying it doesn't work thru USB C. I bought this Atolla one from Amazon. And it came with a converter to USB C and this works perfectly for me. Cause i want my Ethernet to be in the left due to my set up.
Only thing is that this specific one is limited to speeds of up to 5 Gb/s. It's USB 3. Not 3.1 Gen 2.
It also works like this if u want to charge and Ethernet(and more) with same port
