I think we should opt for more efficent PSU by making them chaper and more accessible rather than trying to turn the heat into something even more inefficient.

I agree. My Dell 7530 takes a 180W PSU, and it's big and bulky. I can power it with a 140W USB-C custom cable I put together, but it complains it's not an "official" Dell PSU, and scales the CPU accordingly.

I do wish these companies could produce a GaN level PSU that is small, efficient and not wasting current as heat. The technology is there, just not the market, so we get a huge paperback book as a PSU instead.

I'm using the "ultra-slim" 180W PSU, but it's still bulkier than needed, and traveling with 2 laptops, each with their own proprietary PSU, is wasteful.
