They make nice countertop bins, for probably close to the cost of that tupperware.

I use something almost identical to this. But mine was half the cost bought from Target or something.

Charcoal filter with air holes is pretty effective. As long as my wife doesn't let wet food get on the filter and mold...but simply spraying with something antibacterial kills it and cleans it. That said, I empty it a few times a week because mine is fairly small and fills up after a day's meal prep. But, even if I leave it for a week it doesn't smell until I open it.

I'm also recommending bokashi bins for OPs purpose, because it compresses down and drains liquid like worm tea.
