It doesn't really fit in the original housing. If you have a 3D printer or a friend that does, you can print the following. Then you can epoxy it to the back of the LED bulb and it fits perfectly in the housing (for a 2008 Vulcan 900 Classic)

You'll notice it is basically just a ring with some parts jutting out to meet the mounting holes. Those slits fit over the fins to keep the air ciruculating. Having done it once, most 7 inch LED lights should fit ( accidentally ordered the wrong one and it fit fine )
I was able to find something like this for sale, but it cost more than the LED light and I couldn't tell if it would fit the light correctly. It was less than $5 to print, over $100 to buy, and 8 months later I don't notice any problems yet.
