The $200 Sony PS-LX310BT is not any better than the AT-LP60X which you can buy for $83. Both are easy setup beginner plug and play and lack adjustable tracking force.
If must have fully automatic then go a step up to the better AT-LP3 $157 that adds adjustable tracking force and a removable cartrdige. Balance the tonearm then set the tracking force.
Or if you don't need automatic then the better manual AT-LPW30TK $219.
Next step up is the Fluance RT82 $299 with auto stop. Pass on the older RT80 and RT81 that lack the new speed sensor. Pass on the RT83 since the cartridge is not any better.

Fine to start with if you already have the Panasonic CD micro system and it works well enough.
The speakers are inexpensive basic entry level so they are a sound quality bottleneck for the turntable and records. A speaker upgrade will give you better sound quality that the turntable and records are capable of providing. However you will need to also replace the main Panasonic CD micro system component.

I was once broke and wanted good audio so have bought things incrementally. Now I have a mess of a system 🤔
I want to streamline/simplify/improve my current setup:
Receiver: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-STRDH550-5-2-Channel-Receiver/dp/B00J30GXW2 connected to both my laptop and my PC via HDMI
Bookshelf speakers: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-SSCS5-3-Driver-Bookshelf-Speaker/dp/B00O8YLMVA/r
Headphones: https://www.schiit.com/products/fulla-2 to power a pair of HD 6xxs headphones
Mic: https://www.amazon.com/Shure-SM48S-LC-Microphone-off-switch/dp/B0002D0HY4/ connected to https://www.amazon.com/BEHRINGER-Audio-Interface-1-Channel-UM2/dp/B00EK1OTZC
The desired state is a single/unified tech stack to power my mic, headphones, and speakers. Work seamlessly between both computers, and ideally lead to less desk clutter. Maybe move away from HDMI to send over an audio signal if there’s a better alternative. I would be willing to spend at most $500.
Turntable:
Compact 4" powered speakers with Bluetooth for a small room or desktop setup:
Larger 5.25" passive speakers for a small to medium size room plus an amp or stereo receiver:

Thanks for sharing. The Sonys are very popular and well regarded. I think it comes down to personal preference as the sound signatures are different. This is also an great deal on the Sony SSCS5 on Amazon $123.
