Those looking for additional "starter manga" material may enjoy the Crystal Hunters Japanese series. FYI: unlike Japanese the Manga Way, this series does not include grammar glosses (though vocabulary sheets are available)

They're cheap, volume-length, and actually rather enjoyable. I was frequently surprised by the author's ability to creatively weave in humor despite the incredible constraints on vocabulary and grammar.
