We have Verizon Fios (Frontier now) 150mbs up and down. We upgraded to that router and it worked better but we still had issues.

What fixed it totally was getting the google wifi we went from 70 to 80 down to right on 150. Vue has worked perfectly since then no pauses or skips.

Parents have vue and use the Amazon fire tv and were have issues with skips and pauses. Got them Google wifi haven't had a issue since.

I highly recommend getting it. You can buy it in a three pack or individually. Easy setup.

Might try looking into wifi extenders or PoE access points (personally recommend Ubiquiti). There's also the Google WiFi system, which offers great performance at a cheaper price than Orbi.

Get a mesh router, or ethernet to coax moca converter.

The first option is the much better one. Extenders are garbage.

Get one of these:

Moca works by operating at frequencies on the coax that do not interfere with the cable company signal. It does not actually come from spectrum, it is a capability of equipment. So grab the current 3.1 modem from spectrum, then buy any of the routers i listed and youll be set.

Actually I just stumbled across this. In your instance mesh network is the way to go when you need to cover a large sq ft area without wired infrastructure to provide backhaul. I've converted several people over from airport extremes to these with great results.

To put it simply it is a router that comes in multiple pieces. You plug the actual router (main piece) into your modem so you get internet, and then place the other pieces (access points) strategically so that they hop off of each other and they all form one massive network.

Wherever you are gaming, make sure you use an ethernet cord and not wifi. You may be able to get away with wifi gaming for a bit, but you will experience lag/latency issues/disconnect at some point. Seriously networking your house takes an investment.

This morning I saw Google Wifi listed on amazon (Sold by Amazon.com) for preorder and ship date of Dec 1st. Went there tonight and see amazon pulled the listing. This was the listing, but no longer works: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01MDJ0HVG/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

The 3 pack shows: https://www.amazon.com/Google-replacement-whole%C2%ADhome-coverage-NLS-1304-25/dp/B01MAW2294/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1477339381&sr=1-1&keywords=google+wifi
