I've had a Lacis winder for a very long time, and it's not stellar, but it's fine. It does the job. After you've used it for a while, the metal feed will not stay in place and you have to hold it, making this a two-handed operation: you'll want to control the incoming yarn with the same hand, or get someone to help you, so that it doesn't go slack, especially if you're winding off a swift. And sometimes if you go too quickly and the cone is almost full, the yarn will pass under the edge of the cone and get tangled up in the gears, but I've never had any problem undoing this. I'm making it sound like a really bad piece of equipment, and it's not: I haven't found any reason to replace it. Just letting you know that it's not without issues.
