That is the thing, you have to keep "finding a place" to attach it to. Everyone takes headlamps because they are the most practical. If these were a better option, everyone would be using them. Do what you want but to quote Walter Sobchak, you are entering a world of pain.

If you are paranoid about weight (I'm not, I'll gladly have an extra two pounds of base weight to not be annoyed or save money) I would spend the extra money and get the one /u/saltebob recommended. It's not expensive when you are going to be using it daily for six months.
