My main problem with the bowtie is that it looks like a pipe, so I frequently have to explain that it's not for smoking pot. The other issue only happens when I have a new tip to shape. It's a bit of a pain when you have to grind down a bunch of tip as you cannot just set it on the floor and work the cue, you have to balance it on one end, between your shoes. I also only use the shape side and only occasionally use the needles, as the scuff side is too flat.
To me, a Willard (dime) would be a better tool, and take up less space in my bag or pocket.
