You don't want to buy the socket for that plug, you want to cut that plug off. You will not find anything off the shelf that this
To create 12 Volts, you need 8 AA batteries in series (one behind the other). This light draws 0.5a, and a AA battery has around 2-3Ah of charge, so 8 batteries should drive this for about 4-6 hours.
You cut off the car adapter, and connect together red wires and black wires. Must be insulated from each other (simple clear tape would do). Or just bring the parts to the playa, and I'm sure there are 1000's of folks who can help you wire it. Great way to meet new friends!
Saw a post a few days ago asking if this was possible, and turns out it is. All you need is some wire leading to a wall plug or battery powered switch and small pin connectors.
First of all the Tail lights require 12 volts of power, so I went to amazon and picked up a 12 volt battery powered terminal. Instead you could also buy a 12 volt wall terminal, that comes with pre spliced wires as well; however I did not go with that option because I didn't want to have to unplug the headlights when I wanted it off.
After, you will need to grab some connectors, I went over to my nearest hardware store, and grabbed the smallest connectors I could find. They turned out to be a Hillman 413447a. I then connected it to my battery terminal, which came with pre spliced wires. Crimp the connectors and then connect the ground to ground, and the power wire to whichever source you want. In my case I chose the running tail lights. Slap some power in that bad boy and you're good.

Below are the links to what I purchased, the hillman connectors were just to test this, and the eastern beaver product was bought for a more "proffesional" look.
