I'm considering a couple units. One is this one ($330):

https://www.amazon.com/Morec-NEMA14-50-220V-240V-Upgraded-Compatible/dp/B07FNZBR5W/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=morec+level+2+charger+cord&qid=1629328790&s=automotive&sr=1-9

It is 32A, IP66, 26' cord, but not a smart device. The one I linked uses the 14-50 plug I need too.

The other major one I'm looking at is ($650):

https://www.amazon.com/Pulsar-Level-Electric-Vehicle-Charger/dp/B08H2LYFHX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=52TWKIJJ1IQ1&dchild=1&keywords=wall+box+charger+ev&qid=1629329221&sprefix=wallbox+charger%2Caps%2C292&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A31UGV9498P3NH&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNUpZVUsxQjhFMkhBJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzYyNDUzSk8wNFZWVjgzUVpYJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwMTIwNTYyVTFZSUpOQjdRTk5aJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

That one is 40A, NEMA Type 4 (this is IP66 equivalent), 25' cord, and is a smart device that allows me to schedule charging with the app or even using an Alexa device. But it does cost $300 extra, which is exactly where I established the "forget it" line. The fact that it is 40A rather than 32A maybe brings things into the sub-$300 difference range, plus right now there is a $50 off coupon on the page, so it looks like it's actually $600 right now. Add in the fact that it qualifies for a federal rebate... I'm thinking I might pull the trigger on this one.

Edit: I talked myself into the Wall Box while writing this. I just ordered it.

Below is the one I settled on. I bought and exchanged a few as I was trying to find one with a connector that wasn't so tight on my 2018 SV's K2 port.

Back in 2020 I bought a very similar unit that was 40 amps and adjustable. It was marketed by a company called SimplyWorks. After about a year the unit no longer would power up. And the company no longer offered it or was on Amazon any longer, so no way to return it. I still have it in my garage. The cables seem quite good but the electronics just don't light up or charge.

So to replace the unit I bought a new 32 amp Morec unit similar to this one off eBay.

One thing I noticed immediately was the new unit only had a wire size of 6mm2. The old 40 amp unit was 8mm2. When charging my Bolt, the cable of the new unit gets pretty warm. Next time I charge I will measure the temperature with a IR thermometer of the cable and the pins of the charge port. If they are too warm, I guess I will discontinue using it. It would be disappointing to have to toss two units in just 3 years. Especially since I don't drive that much and thus don't charge on a regular basis.

It's the Morec EVSE. I had the exact same problem after about a year of ownership of my bolt and Morec evse.

I posted about it here very recently, but I was off-track about the actual cause because it coincided with my appointment with a dealer to have the recall s/w update performed.

This is the specific EVSE I have.

Currently looking at this one

Really just want the cheapest reliable option that I can get. Does it matter if it’s 16 amp? I drive about 60-70 miles daily and will have about 8-12 hours to charge when I get home
