Well that depends on your price range and whatever else is important to you.

Most laptops made in the last 5 five years will be usable for programming today anyway.

For me though, I picked this one:

$520, single ethernet port, 1 Thunderbolt, 2 USB A, 1 HDMI port, bluetooth, Aux, micro sd card slot, 1600x900 12.5" display, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB storage, i7-8650U CPU.

Wifi works, HDMI works, ethernet works, bluetooth works, but not sure about thunderbolt.
