So, the reason you aren't getting any responses is because it's unlikely that anyone in this subreddit has ever seen this thing before, and you're in a better position to figure out its operation than any of us are. Do they have a support contact?

I'm curious though, why 5V? Gravity works just fine, and its cheap.

If you really like the idea of a "smart" watering system try to find one with a soil moisture sensor. A feedback loop will work better than time-based. You could build one with an Arduino, a moisture sensor, and a pump or valve - but it does require a little bit of coding and if not soldering, wiring. If you're in to that stuff, you could also hack what you have to add a moisture sensor.
