I used to use this enclosure for my cr-10, Now I am using it as an enclosure for my Elegoo Saturn in the serial killer part of my basement.
- I only open the tent when I move the build plate to my wash and cure station right next to it. I close the tent as soon as I can.
- I have three air purifiers with carbon filters. One inside the enclosure, two right outside. I crank them up when I am working with the resin printer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q1S7GGJ
- I also picked up an air quality monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08W8KS8D3? so I can measure VOCs in there
Here are my thoughts
- I would only put a setup like this in a part of your house that is mostly unused. The VOC counts are non existent when I am printing, but they do spike when change out prints. It takes a bit of time for the VOC levels to go down. I still wear a carbon filter mask when I am working with the prints.
- I would most certainly not put this in an occupied room and certainly not a bedroom...mainly due to the VOC bump but more due to the splash damage. You don't want resin splashing on your stuff. I run a UV curing light over my work area every couple days to make sure I don't have any uncured resin anywhere. I tend to be pretty methodical and clean when I work but things do still get loose.
- Definitely go with water washing resin and have a plan to dispose of the water from your washing station. Remember that your washing station will have resin in it so keep it covered. I use my uv curing light on mine every couple days.
- I also looked into marijuana growing tents, but decided to try out the enclosure since I had it onhand. If you go with the grow tent, make sure it has a carbon filter and can be vented outside.
I think when spring rolls around I am going to build a small enclosed room that vents outside. While I have everything managed, I think I would feel better if everything was just venting outside.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
