Is it possible that I may have burnt out/permanently damaged my pedal

Yes, it's possible.

Since you got it on Amazon you can send it back DOA.

Get yourself one of these:

at least until you're ready to upgrade to a "brick" power supply (but these are still really handy to have around).

Notice that the one above comes with a 9v snap adapter - those are great to have around - a lot of new inexpensive pedals come with them. I keep a couple in each bag/case just in case a power supply ever goes down I can still run a pedal off a 9v in an emergency.

Since you have 30 days, get this power supply above, and try it and if the pedal still doesn't work you can return it as broken and get another - and then you'll have the correct power supply.

BTW, one thing people are saying to do these days - especially with these cheaper pedals - is not to plug or unplug the pedal while the power supply is plugged into the wall. Instead, plug all your pedals in first and then supply power. Better safe then sorry.

And you should always check to make sure any pedal you buy will work with an existing power supply or you get the right adapter cable to go with it. MOST of them work on this type - but there are a few outliers out there you have to get adapters for (upsize the connector or change it to a mini-plug style, or some have the center positive rather than negative).

Not a hub, but I'm very happy with this daisy-chain power supply from Donner
