Great choice! My first rifle was an M&P 15 Sport 2 with the fixed front sight and flip-up MBUS rear sight (I was in a free state so I had all the features). I would get MBUS sights to start and add a red dot later on, you can co-witness them and be able to switch back and forth without doing anything else. I put a Sig Romeo 5 on my rifle after a year and a half.
I fixed the mag in place on my rifle to make it NJ compliant, so I don't really shoot it that often anymore. Hopefully the AWB will get struck down in the future. I've had a few jams but overall it's a great rifle and I intend to keep it forever.
