Check this out if you're on a budget: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FKTMWDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_NE849EGZ20YNBVTAEKT9

Not the latest MoCA standard but I was able to get about 100mbps out of them. Good enough for streaming high quality video or gaming. I mainly got it for my steam link which works great with them. I've since ran cat6 through my house but these worked well when I had them.

Questions and some advice:

  1. What's the model of the Verizon router - G1100? G3100? MI424WR Rev I? Something else?
  2. How does the Verizon router connect to the ONT, by coax or Ethernet?
  3. Do you use Verizon for television services, with Verizon set top boxes?

Now some advice:

  1. I assume your Netgear is connected to the Verizon router by Ethernet. Fine. Put the Netgear into Access Point mode, and set the 2.4 GHz SSID and Password to match whatever you've got on the Verizon router:

  1. Scrap that extender. If the Verizon router is connected to coax cable in your house, and if there's a live coax jack somewhere near that location, get one of these instead:

It's essentially a coax connected access point. It's older generation stuff (802.11N and max speed of 100 Mbps) but only 20 bucks. Again, just name the SSID and Password the same as the rest of your network.
