A timbertech compressor with a tank like this compressor an air hose hose and maybe an iwata eclipse airbrush
25-30psi would be the upper limit for me and that would be only for spraying primer. Ordinarily I’m around 15psi, but I’m shooting scale models, not miniatures. I would think I’d be even lower with those because they’re even finer detail…
On average these AS-186 style compressors are around 48-52db. You can definitely hear them, and you might want to put it on some kind of sound deadening material so it doesn’t echo through the floor. I put mine on top of an upside down Rubbermaid tote stuffed with an old blanket.
You don’t NEED a unit with a tank, but its possible there are pressure fluctuations without it, though at 25psi I’m not sure you’d notice them. They don’t run any less than a unit with a tank, just at different times. Without a tank it goes on when you spray. Without it doesn’t go on until tank pressure is low enough, then fills up when it’s reached 50psi or so and shuts off. So it might run for a minute when you’re not spraying. A tank only delays the compressor run time.
Neither the compressor you linked to nor the Iwata Smartjet have tanks.
This is that style of compressor with a tank. I don’t know what is available in Japan. There are dozens of different versions of this compressor on Amazon U.S. It’s not big. You can stick it under a table.
Depending on what types of paints your spraying you’ll need appropriate ventilation and a respirator. Even for acrylics.
Sigh…sorry about that. You have no idea how many times a week this question gets asked here.
I always recommend the GSI Creos PS-289 .3 brush here.. If it’s not available where you are then you can probably get an Iwata HP-CS which is more or less the same airbrush for more money.
For a compressor any of the generic AS-189 type units with a tank on Amazon here.
Get a hose.
Get an airbrush holder for you bench. Get a mask. If you’re spraying lacquers or enamels get a respirator and buy or build a spray booth vented to the outside.
Went over budget I know, but I simply wouldn’t spend less for a good setup.
thisis the best airbrush compressor on the market period. You just need a standard airbrush hose and brush for it, for the brush a good one for all skill levels is iwata neo cn, if you have a hobby lobby near you they sell em there cheap. Don’t cheap out on the brush because you can’t learn properly with a piece of junk tool. It’s a good investment
Any compressor will work with any airbrush, provided it’s not one of those ridiculous cordless handheld units in which case all bets are off.
I use this compressor. It can be found under many brands.
