This happened to me 5 times with my band 2 until they would no longer replace it for me. I was trying to also figure out what alternative to get, until I found a long term fix. I repaired it with self fusing silicone tape.

Works amazingly. I actually did a horrible job applying it and it's possible to get it more flush without any ends showing. It's quite easy to apply and has been holding up well. You can cut it off and re-apply if you mess up.
