I'm referring to the reviews, that everyone can see. Also, I have bought two dongles in the past and neither of them worked reliably - they disconnected after a few minutes, sometimes wouldn't connect or identify my device as headphones, and sometimes the quality was so poor that it crackled so much.

Here are some examples of reviews as well:

I got a pair of Bose Soundsport wireless headphones as a gift for Christmas and the range I get from them when connected to my iphone is about 30 feet. When I have them connected to my laptop via this dongle the range is about 1.5 feet. If I raise my arm to scratch my head on the side where the headphones receiver is I get all kinds connection issues and don't have any of these issues when connected to my iphone under the same scenario. I DO NOT recommend this device to anyone!

My desktop PC doesn't have BT on the MB, so I've always used a dongle. My previous setup was a Asus BT4 dongle, so I thought I'd go for an upgrade since several of my new devices are BT5. I started to get another Asus dongle since my old one has worked so well, but went with this because of the Linux compatibility and decent reviews. That was a mistake. This thing has been trouble from the start and has done nothing but introduce instability into my system. When I first plugged it in, my system froze for a few seconds. Finally it said it was setting up the new device. This took a lot longer than normal. Rather than a few seconds, it was 2-3 minutes. I tried some headphones and it worked, but the sound was lagging behind, so I thought maybe installing their driver would help. I downloaded it from their website and began the install. It started off fine, but then it stopped and just seemed to sit there. There were no signs of any activity. No drive light flashing, changes to the screen, or anything. I've seen drivers take a while to install before, so I just let it be. Finally after 30 minutes or more, I got the "Done" screen and it asked me if I wanted to reboot. I chose to reboot later since I had work to do. When I started the reboot it went to the Windows "Rebooting" screen and just sat there. After I couple of minutes I walked away and let it be. When I came back to the room 15-20 minutes later, I was greeted by the Win10 version of the BSOD. There wasn't any useful info on the screen, so I hit the reset button and prayed. It booted up, but took a little longer than normal. The dongle was there on my list of devices but my headphones would not connect. I paired them again and it worked, sort of. Sound had static and wasn't in sync. Another reboot, normal this time, and it seemed to settle down. I looked through system logs to see if there was any info about that BSOD and it said the driver didn't work. I checked and the driver being used is from Microsoft, not Edimax. Did I go through all of that install drama for nothing? I'm not really sure. All I can say for sure it that my system isn't stable like it used to be. The sound cuts in and out, the screen refreshes for no apparent reason, and some games just don't load because they're apparently having issues with the audio. When they finally load, I don't have any sound.

I read a review for a different dongle that mentioned using a USB 2 port for that one to work properly. I have always plugged my old dongle in my USB 3 hub and it worked fine. I was doing the same with this new dongle. I tried moving it to a USB 2 port and it seems to like that a lot more. Why on earth a new technology device would need to be plugged into an old technology port is rather mystifying to me, but it's working for the moment. I'm going to experiment with it a bit more but most likely I'm going to return this and order the Asus dongle or go in a different direction altogether.

Pretty much any BT adapter should work, but if I was going to get a new one (I have a Pluggable 4.0 adapter) I would get the Edimax 5.0 one.
