NO, SSD are different to a Hard Drive but there is a 512gb SSD for $90US ( + enclosure)Silicon Power 512GB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance Boost SATA III 2.5" 7mm (0.28") Internal Solid State Drive (SP512GBSS3A55S25) best fucking deal.
Edit: with the 256gb SSD version has gone down another $2.
And for OP there is
But why risk getting a drive not work b/c it doesn't meat the xb1 requirement. Some 240gb aren't recognized by the xb1. If only they'd drop those requirements and let us load in a $15US 50gb SSD. MS should start bundling PUBG with an SSD like that they'll start selling like hotcakes. Both PUBG and Fortnite two of the most populated games on xbox right now would use half of that drive with a few extra games.
This is basically my specs minus the case the app that I used to make the table didn’t have the case I used to build the pc. I forgot exactly what my parts are because I built my system a couple of years ago. I plan on upgrading very soon.

1TB SSD drives are now sub 150 bucks, buy one of those, use that as your primary internal drive, will speed up games and operating system.
Use HDD USB as extra storage, manually move older games rarely played to that.
$58 for 2TB HDD USB or 4TB for $89.

Yes, the program will tell you which Crucial products will fit.
You can then buy the same kind of product from any brand.
A 2.5" SATA SSD will fit.
But if an M.2 NVMe (also known as PCIe) SSD will fit - those are better, faster, and cost about the same.
For a SATA SSD, I would probably go with a Team AX2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CK7T9FG
At the moment it's one of the cheapest models, without skimping on quality.
They have a 512GB version for $24.50, and a 1TB version for $43.
The Silicon Power A55 tends to always be a good deal, but isn't always the best deal. It's also a very decent SSD. Currently it's $25 and $45 respectively: * https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07997QV4Z * https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4G19X3
Both would be just fine. But 250GB isn't a lot unless you're dealing with physical games not including GT5-6. May I counter with this? I use a 128GB variant of the same drive in my windows machine just for the OS and it's fine.
