We have a large number of clients that still have MacBook Pro MF840LL/A models, primarily purchased brand new, with their single largest complaint being "8GB can reduce performance these days). And these are clients that have theirs serviced annually.
Other issues are
Batteries, and they're having problems with the factor replacements, largely the "Spicy Pillow" gassing of the Li-Po cells. And basically being "glued in", doesn't help matters much.
Had a rash of Samsung SSD controller failures, but many of the clients had upgraded theirs already, so it wasn't a problem.
But that's it for the MacBook Pro MF840LL/A.
ThinkPad T480 is among the least problematic laptops owned by any of our clients. Same for clients that have the ThinkPad A485, which has become the more popular model to purchase used, when it's available.
The integrated graphics provide better gaming.
Still, depending on usage, the back is fine.
