What you have won't work, however if you want multi-colored what I would recommend would be:

You could use this and then form it into the shape you want.

It would be able to use the USB power bank (I would recommend having more than one and making it able to be swapped out) and also have the benefit of being able to use the remote to change the color.

If the strip is too long, you can also generally cut them shorter as well and add additional USB cables, although the remote will only work on the original USB cable unless you add a new controller to the additional strip.
