I’ve been using the Aeotec garage door opener with abode but it died a few months ago. I wanted something that wouldn’t do that again so I’ve gone for the tailwind garage door opener which is more hardwired. Do the research but IMO its a well thought out unit with a little extra effort needed with long term benefits.

My requirements - works with Alexa, can integrate with abode (via Ifttt), will be HomeKit compatible, will get firmware updates, and is more reliable long term.

Reviews are strong for it and the demo video and GPS considerations thought through. I hate wires but I hate replacing my garage door opener 18-24 months because the tilt sensor dies. It’s really a binary switch so it’s not rocket science.

I have an iPhone so also bought the little Bluetooth puck.
