I've been getting some major envy from all the slingers, ares, and dedicated functional trainers.
I've been looking for options, but I'm pretty space constrained - my ceiling is 81.5" and my half rack is 80" tall, so there isn't my wiggle room above. I'm tall enough that I'm using all but the highest spots on the uprights anyway, so I don't really have room for a fancy trolley system that stays attached.
I think the best bet is something like this. https://www.amazon.com/SERTT-Upgraded-Fitness-Attachment-Shoulder/dp/B08PC6FGKW/ref=sr_1_55?crid=1Z4CEAU0RBBJT&keywords=pulley%2Bstrap%2Btricep&qid=1684798758&sprefix=pulley%2Bstrap%2Btricep%2Caps%2C92&sr=8-55&th=1 It's got a plate loaded loading pin, hooked up to a pulley, that attaches to the rack via a nylon strap and a carabiner. Other kits come with different lengths of cables, more pulleys, various handles, etc.
Does anyone have something like this? Are they worthwhile? I'm a little concerned about how much the weights will sway when in motion. I'm worried the whole thing will be tedious to set up or in the way if I leave it attached. Or worse still, I use it a couple times and then abandon it and still have functional trainer envy.
(If you do have something like this and want to make a recommendation, I'm all ears. Coop's DIY video looked pretty reasonable to me, but I don't have a loading pin or any of the bars, so I might as well go with a kit and then DIY additional pulleys as needed.)
