I'm doing the same thing, and refuse to pay for gels or carbs. I'm move between candy (haribo gummy bears) and drinks. I just did 100 on sunday and used maltodextrin + black tea + bcaa mix. I pulled about 16 grams of protein and 400 calories and some caffeine over 90 minutes from this bottle. I had a second bottle of water with some salt in it to alternate between.
Read the ingredients on the gels, they are all mostly maltodextrin;)
