I'll probably get a lot of hate, but I have to be honest, the cheap ones on eBay, Amazon, etc. are not bad.

I started with a Hennessy Classic, bottom entry. After an episode that involved way, way too much vodka, where I ended up flipped upside down and didn't know up from down, the screen got torn in a few places. After ruining it my first season, I decided to try one of the cheap ones ($30CAD), with the plan being just replacing it every year.

I'm still on my first one, it's probably about 8 years old now. The zippers are cheaper than the Hennessy, obviously, but I've only had an issue with them once, because I tried closing the zipper with a full water bottle in the storage pouch. A quick YouTube search on how to fix a zipper, and it's still going.

I've since purchased a Hennessy Zip, which is much more practical (I quit drinking, also). But I still use the cheap one once or twice a year. I still have quite a few of them, because the first few years I didn't think it would last, so I ordered a new one every year expecting the first one to fail, and being such good value I decided to have a few on hand for gifts and such.

The one in the link above is the newer model with a frame for the screen. The older ones were bit harder to setup as you had to run two additional lines for the screen support.

The Hennessy is a much better hammock for a variety of reasons. The tarp setup is faster than having to run a ridge line and a tarp. The zippers are so much better, the overall quality is much better. But if you can't afford a Hennessy right now, a cheap one will get you through until you find a good deal on a used Hennessy, and act as a spare/loaner. I've found them used for as little as $100CAD.
