Kindle and Google's e-reader both work on PC just fine. Just order the book on there. I recommend ordering through Amazon because they will give you the Kindle version for free until you receive your book.

There is a free Kindle desktop program or you can read Kindle books with the free program Calibre.

oddly enough, amazon seems to have disabled the Kindle for PC app download, as well -
