It's not for everyone. Comparatively, it is heavier. But it works exactly as designed. (I use it for Apple SideCar.)
The variable angle means you can rest it on your lap on a plane, or push it to the back of the tray during a meal, etc.

ALTERNATIVE: You can rig almost anything with 2mm cordage and some #4 Plastic Nite-ize S-Biners. Just need to learn the appropriate knots to make secure cradle. They're rated to 25lbs, weigh practically nothing and are so useful for travel. Best price is always as part of the gear line set.
