Any usb hub should work, and it doesn't need to be powered. I use this one to hook up four f310s to my Ouya:

I use this for power. I use this OTG cable that splits between tablet/power/AmazonBasics hub.
Then the JoyCon EXC, EasyCap, UCA202, and a USB extension for plug-and-play for USB/HDDs go into the USB hub. The charger is wired to the ACC, so key on = power = tablet and dash cam (plugged into that second USB slot) power on.
I have the tablet set to 5 seconds to shut down for the "starting" issue. Before I used 1-3 seconds and it wasn't enough. 10 seconds was too long. Found that 5 seconds was perfect and gives a nice view of the shutdown picture.
Pi Zero's can be picky, I think because they have a slightly non-standard USB implementation. I don't recall if I had any issues with any USB hubs on my Pi3A+ when I had it. I do know that the Amazon Basics USB 2.0 Hub worked well with it - I bought a case when I caught it on sale cheap from Amazon Warehouse and have been using them with everything ever since.
i ordered this one. works just fine i use it daily. no external power supply just usb https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003M0NURK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was this one connected to a USB-C adapter.
