Mutes will all change the tone of the violin. A practice mute's whole purpose is to prevent the instrument from vibrating as much, a large rubber practice mute like that especially will drastically change the sound.

If it's an issue of volume perhaps a metal mute would sound better to you? I suggest the Artino rubber covered metal mute available on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GCNUHQ

I have the one that sounded like the best balance for my instrument, and as with all things violin, a different combination might work better for you, but the artino rubber coated metal mute is super quiet. Here it is at my local shop:

And here it is on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Otto-Musica-Artino-Practice-violin/dp/B006GCNUHQ/ref=asc_df_B006GCNUHQ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312150857943&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13934765954977481419&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031192&hvtargid=pla-441901025903&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=65054436154&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312150857943&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13934765954977481419&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031192&hvtargid=pla-441901025903

It still preserves the bowing feedback. Unfortunately my Yamaha electric doesn’t really give any feedback at all.
