You could try:
1) having your camera already pointed at the spot you want to capture 2) using remote-capture (can your camera do this?)

Also I just wanted to share some input. Photographing birds was sort of a natural progression for me as a hobby-birder; I started out trying to photograph birds using regular digital cameras like the one you linked. I eventually came to the conclusion that there wasn't a point to having a compact digital camera because new smartphone cameras are way more convenient and nearly as good. If you really want to take some nice shots of birds I suggest investing in good zoom. This camera is what I use, and it's about the same price as yours. The zoom is crazy (42x optical) and essential to bird photography in my opinion.
