Without knowing what you're designing it's hard to make a recommendation for switches because some are round, some are square, big/small etc
For small tactile switches (like used on keypads, or other square buttons) I used these. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/653-B3W-4050 They provide a nice click, but they need a cap and a way to mount them like I described in the last post. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/653-B32-1210 is the cap for this size. But they make similar switches and caps in different sizes, including round. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/653-B32-1610
If you're looking for buttons that can be mounted directly to a box I've had good luck with these. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/612-PS1023ABLK

I've also used these from amazon in the past. They're cheap, but they don't have quite as nice of a click, and I have had some that were DOA. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SVTQ7B9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Same story with these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0752RMB7Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As far as your question about pricing; for big switches $1-2 a piece isn't unheard of for a decent switch. For the small tactile style, they're cheaper, but you need to make or buy a cap for them.
My personal recommendation is if you ever have a question about quality, buy the better component. Your labor is probably the most expensive part of any build. You don't want to be spending hours troubleshooting a couple $.50 components because you didn't buy the $1 one.
