Cheapest possible solution? Add the Clearstream VHF retrofit kit
It's 31.5" wide, but you would tape this to the window above or below your existing antenna (or use one of those picture-hanging Command stickies). You'd plug your existing antenna into the joiner. Voila! This is what puts the "V" into the Clearstream 2V.
Or you could simply stream the locals using Locast - but then you couldn't DVR the stations on something like a TiVo, Tablo or Recast. (and the picture would be degraded)
KARE 11 is a VHF station and you're attempting to tune it in using a UHF antenna. The antenna elements simply aren't long enough. On the typical "rabbit ear antenna with a little loop" the long elements pick up VHF while the little loop picks up UHF. Something like this would likely help. It's a VHF Dipole with a UHF/VHF Combiner
KMSP 9 is also a VHF channel but they simulcast on UHF and it shows up as 9.9.
Most of the other stations broadcast entirely in the UHF range: Digital channel 2 is actually broadcast on RF channel 34, WCCO 4 is broadcast on 32, KSTP 5 is broadcast on 35, etc.
There's always some crazy station that broadcasts in VHF, and in your case Low-VHF on channel 6 (ABC). The others (except maybe PBS) should be fine. PBS has two stations - one on Hi-VHF 12 and another one on UHF.
You could TRY the VHF retrofit kit. It's designed for around channels 7 and 8 I think, but might give you a little boost on 6. (there's a gap between 6 and 7). It's only $20. I suppose you could use tape to hang it near your existing antenna. VHF Retrofit kit
Or you could replace your existing antenna with a stronger UHF/VHF antenna. You have a highly regarded antenna, so I'd hold off on that.
