Like the others, I adore Atul Gawande's work. I read "Better: A surgeon's notes on performance" as a brand new military corpsman and it completely changed my approach to medicine.
The White House Doctor is a great book. Connie Mariano was the MD on staff for the Clinton administration and she gives a really great account of her time spent there.
Paul Linde wrote "Of Spirits and Madness" about providing care in Zimbabwe with limited resources and sparse (sometimes unmotivated) staff. I know it's not a NYT best seller or anything fancy, but this is a really great read and reminds you how great it is to provide care in a place where you have clean running water.
I'd love more books by PAs but there aren't a lot... if you enjoy reading so much, you should give writing a try :)
